If you are asking yourself, "What is a conversion rate?" then you have
a problem already. If you know what your conversion rate then lets
talk about some basics. On average conversion rates for websites
should be at about 3%. So in easy-to-understand terms, if you have 300
visitors to your website today you should have made atleast 3 sales.
That would be a normal conversion rate. I was talking to a client this
morning that was telling me about his conversion rate being 5% over the
holiday weekend. Thats about normal too for a bigger shopping weekend
if you have the right deals on your site.
Making
sure you take advantage of the seasons is huge! If you do not have a
"Christmas Sale Explosion" on your site somewhere easily visible above
the break then you are missing out.
I have said this before,
but also talking to your suppliers about holiday specials, and offers
they may be able to give you that you can pass along to your
customers. Having huge savings and better deals then your competition
can be a huge factor in conversion rates as well. Do you even know
what your competition is selling their products at? Do you know what
your products are selling for on buying solution sites or places like
Ebay? If not then you need to do a little better research and site
analysis.
Look at your computer screen right now and pull up
your website. If you are looking at it on a 17 inch monitor what comes
up above the break? Do you have the most important stuff where people
click? Where is that you ask? In the top left corner of the website
make a square about 4 inches by 4 inches and that is the hottest spot
of your website and the most important info needs to be included there!
Once
you show your dropshipping company that you are a force to be delt with
and you bring them sales etc., they will be more willing to work with
you and give you good deals - so don't give up!
