Finding Suppliers

When finding suppliers (online or off) you need to ask them a few questions to see if they would be a good fit for your internet business or not.  Most people forget about some obvious questions that need to be asked, and it could make a big difference in your businesses bottom line.

The most important questions to ask when finding suppliers is:  Do you dropship?  I would never work with a supplier that does not dropship because that means I have to have alot of money up front for supply and a big warehouse to store all the goods.  I would rather rely on someone elses storing and shipping options.  This is where the term OPM (in regards to internet business) or "other people's money" comes into play.  You are using someone else's warehouse and shipping options and you do not have to worry about any of this at all.  For me, this makes doing business much easier, so again when finding suppliers find ones that will dropship 1 or 100 items at a time.

Another question most people forget to ask when finding suppliers is:  Will you allow me to sell your products on the internet?  Yea, I know it may seem like... DUH, but alot of suppliers out there mostly deal with offline businesses and are not use to internet businesses.  Just making sure they will allow you to sell thier products online (and promote them etc) could cause less pain later on and in some cases having to find a new supplier.

A great question to ask when finding suppliers (although not needed for selling products on your website) is:  Am I allowed to sell these products on Ebay?  Even though you have the right to sell the product on your website alot of suppliers do not like thier distributors to sell on Ebay or other online auction sites.  So remember, before just selling the products that you have access to on Ebay ask and make sure its ok and that there are no restrictions.

One last great question to ask when finding suppliers is:  Do you have a minimum order number?  I talked about it a few paragraphs ago, but I really do think its one of the most important questions to ask when finding suppliers.  You want to make sure a supplier can handle an order of 500 ... or a simple order of one.  No questions asked and no upfront money put down etc....

In conclusion, one thing to point out about The Shipper Dropshipping List when finding suppliers is that all the companies in this list have been asked these questions and comply and fit perfectly with an internet business plan.
